The Community Preschool at SOU
The preschool is operated as a self-support program under the supervision of the School of Education.
The staff consists of three main teachers who oversee the day to day operations, curriculum planning, safety protocols, and licensing requirements. Along side our main teachers, we offer learning opportunities for SOU School of Education Practicum students, University Bridge and Work Study Employees, observational opportunities, and volunteers. These invitees are supervised by our teachers and loved by the children
Lisa Parmenter
Directress, Teacher
Lisa served as Lead Teacher for 3 years at the Community Preschool prior to accepting the Director Role, which she has taken over in stride. Lisa is responsible for creating the Summer Program which just finished its third successful season!
Lisa is a graduate of SOU with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and an Early Childhood Learning Certificate from RCC. Lisa has over 20 years experience creating educational environments and programs, as well as managing operations. Our preschool and your childern are in creative, enthuastic, and reliable hands!
Raegan Prawitz
Lead Teacher, Administrator
Rae is a graduate of SOU with a Bachelor‘s degree in Educational Studies. She was our preschool’s first student intern during the 2022-23 school year, taught in two summer program seasons, and has now returned after her gap year to be our Lead Teacher and Administrator!
Rae is passionate about teaching young children about the wonders of the natural world and is very excited to continue her journey at our preschool!
Julie Kasiah
Teacher
Julie returns for her 11th year at the Community Preschool and 14th year working at SOU. She shares her expertise on providing safe, creative, and nurturing environments with our children, families, practicum students, and volunteers.
Her steady and inviting presence has provided children comfort and opportunities to flourish in our school for years; and this year is no exception!
